Senior Reassurance

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Senior Resource Program was established to ensure the safety and security of our elderly residents throughout the holidays and beyond. Each enrolled senior will receive a phone call from a member of the Buncombe Sheriff’s Office, during holidays, severe weather incidents or any other time a check by phone might be needed. This is a free service available to the residents of Buncombe, to take part in this program one must have a landline telephone or a cell phone. No one is too old or too young to enroll, as long as they can verify they are a resident of Buncombe County.

This service was put in place to ensure our seniors are not forgotten during the holidays, or at any time throughout the year. We know that sometimes the only interaction a senior might have is with their care provider. The Senior Resource Program allows the sheriff’s office an opportunity to check on our seniors to make sure their basic needs are being met and that they are not in a situation where they need help or in a condition that is not normally in their best interest. This service is not a home security check and we will not physically check each senior, please do not enroll in the service with the impression that is what will be provided.
